A variety of photographic tools make up the foundation of my work. I am interested in the given that everyday situations can be laden with universal metaphors that play an important role in our collective memory. I frequently take personal material as a starting point, always with the purpose of illuminating the separate semantic reality hidden beneath it. This process turns out to be paradoxical time after time. In a visually oriented world we often seem rather incapable of making a connection through the images with potential truths and aspects of originality and authenticity. I search for images and processes that make original contact with several universal layers possible. We may bring essentials to light just by giving the initial photographic materials (video, slides, polaroid pictures, photos from disposable cameras) another chance; on taking a closer look, you may find that they have a logic of their own. The images are open subjects with values of their own. Each forms a counterpoint to the reality that once participated in their coming about.
